LIFE

The LIFE (Leisure in Fun Environments) Program provides opportunities for children and youth with disabilities to engage in meaningful recreational activities.

Overview

The LIFE Program offers therapeutic recreational programs to children and youth with cognitive and/or physical disabilities in Manitoba, up to 20 years old. The program is broken into three categories:

Summer day camps: Families can register their child aged 12-20 for one or two weeks of summer day camp, held at a variety of locations in Winnipeg and surrounding areas. Funding for a 1:1 recreation support worker can be paid by your supporting agency, and registration fees are paid by the parents.

Therapeutic Recreation and Wellness Program: These programs are supervised by professional and recreation support workers and are staffed in a 1:3 ratio. These programs occur after-school and on weekends between September and June.

Active Living Centre: The adapted recreation equipment loan program is open to families and professionals!

The LIFE program is run by B.A./B.Ed. – LIFE Program Co-Coordinator and COTM Provisional OT – LIFE Program Co-Coordinator. There is also a dedicated team of recreation support workers who support program facilitation.

Sign up for our email list to receive information about upcoming programs and how to register. Our programs are open to all children and youth with disabilities in Manitoba and families can self-refer to our program; a professional referral is not required. We may call new families to learn more about how we can support your child.
